Perhaps the industry hurt most by Corona is the hotels and restaurants branch. Throughout the world restrictions have been put on opening of restaurants.
But one positive that has come out of Corona in the industry is the rapid digitization initiatives partly forced by regulations, and partly by the need to find alternate ways to reach the customers.
Here are four areas that have seen tremendous growth in the last few months:
- Order Collection: Apps like Foodora, Wolt, Just Eat etc have had a tremendous growh as people were ordering from home instead of going out.
- Online Menu: Many new apps and solutions based on QR code came in to existence for digitatization of menu and seemless order collection both in restaurants and from outside.
- Digital Registration of users: Regulatory compulsions made it mandatory to collect data of users who are visiting restaurants for traceability. Many third party apps and website updates were done to meet this requirement
- Websites-Digital Marketing: Many new restaurants as well as cloud kitchen companies depended heavily on updated websites and Digital marketing in order to capture the home delivery market for restaurant foods.
Despite this, there was not much change on the internal Digitization of processes. There is a huge gap in possibilities and acutal usage of IT uses within the industry.
Sourcing, Compliance, Data Analytics, Integrations between different operational areas are still done mostly in very primitive way. There is a huge potential in tapping the untouched operational areas with the branch.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
